norfolk broad (day 2)

we went out for a walk in the morning before everyone else woke up. as it is, the village is very quiet and even more on Sunday morning. took the public footpath next to the brook near the B&B. we met few morning walkers. path was a bit muddy because it rained the night before and took some lovely pics of snowdrops in someone back garden and also at the adventure woodland behind a church

after breakfast, we checked out and left for Wroxham Barn in Hoveton, just 5 miles away from Coltishall. Wroxham Barns is the ‘must visit’ for all the family – whatever your age. there are shops selling stylish clothes, gifts for home and garden,  Bill LeGrice Roses & Plant Centre, Junior Farm, Children’s Funfair, 10 Craft Studios and an award winning restaurant and definitely well worth a visit.

 

before heading home, we stopped at Norwich City, went to Norwich Castle ground and had lunch in Castle Mall, just behind the castle.

 

it was St Paddy's (St Patrick) Day - Ireland's national day and celebrated across the British Isles

 

norfolk broad (day 1)

that was our first visit to Norfolk region, which is on the mid east coast of England.  the thing about Norfolk is that, its right at the end of the east coast and you don't go anywhere else from the coast. it is a low lying county, very flat land, hardly any hill/slope

it was hub's birthday weekend in March 2013..and  we decided to drive to Norfolk for a weekend away. weather wasn't so good - it was rainy and cloudy but then again.. rain or shine, we just packed up and drove 3 hours towards Norwich.

 

 

Norfolk is famous for the man-made Broads, covering 303 sq km with over 125 miles of navigable lock-free waterways set in beautiful countryside and with many charming and picturesque towns and villages. best way to discover The Broads is by boat.

 

 

first stop was Wroxham.

 

then we drove towards Coltishall, 7 miles from Norwich City. our B&B was Bridge House  in the village on the River Bure.  Coltishall is also  known as Gateway to Norfolk Broad



 

 

 we had dinner at the local pub, The Rising Sun. lovely food - fresh seafood & baked potatoes.
