2014 easter break itineraries :
1. my longtime friend from Glasgow days arrived at our place on 1/4, after 2 weeks travel around few Eastern European countries. she stayed with us for 5 days and while she's here we went to Matlock Bath and Bakewell in Derbyshire.
in 1698, the spa waters ie 3 medicinal springs were discovered. its' heyday was in Victorian times when it became known as "Little Switzerland" by the poet, Lord Byron.
The name Bakewell originates from 'Bad-kwell' meaning 'bath-spring'. you can only find this Bakewell Pudding in Bakewell.
2. Rendezvous-ing and gallivanting in Glasgow and Edinburgh with my friend who's not been back to Glasgow since she left for homeland, 20 years ago. we took the low cost flight from East Midlands airport on 6/4.
the first time I flew on flybe, not bad for £70 return and less than one hour flight. train would probably cost more and would take 5 hours to get to Glasgow
everywhere in Glasgow is having countdown to Commonwealth games in July.
this pic was taken at the arrival hall at Glasgow International Airport
this was taken at Glasgow Central (Train) Station
3. on 9/4, my friend flew to Amsterdam and I came back to Notts. soon upon arrival at 12.30 pm, my other half & kids fetched me and we drove for 5 1/2 hours to our close friend's holiday home in Fowey, Cornwall. stayed there for 4 nites and came home on Sunday.
arrived in time to enjoy the sunset on River Fowey
so my next posts will be in that order.
