heights of abraham, derbyshire

it was such a lovely day in March 2013. spring had arrived! (but I spoke too soon, because a week after that, it snowed quite heavily across the country and Derbyshire was not spared)

we've been living in the UK for 7 years and had never been up to Heights of Abraham, on Masson Hill in the heart of Derbyshire Dales in the village of Matlock Bath.  we've been to and passed by Matlock Bath countless times to go other places in Peak District but never took the cable car up to the hilltop.

Matlock Bath is about 25 miles from Nottingham, 18 miles north of Derby. there are frequent rail services from Nottingham and Derby into Matlock Bath and the cable car station is just 3 minutes walk from the station.

it was a glorious & sunny day when we got up on the hilltop. there are 2 caverns (Masson Cavern and Rutland Cavern) to explore, picnic and play areas, places to eat and drink, woodland walks and  viewing tower (Victoria Prospect Tower).
