monsal dale, derbyshire.. revisited

I cant remember how many times we've been to monsal dale but we've taken few Malaysian guests when they came to visit/stay with us.

we took the kids walking on 22nd Feb 2014 and it turned out to be a lovely day, after a bout of wet weather. the ground was a bit muddy but what the heck..we packed lunch in the picnic bag - nasi lemak and tea in flask and equipped with  walking boots & walking sticks..

Monsal Dale is in Derbyshire, about an hour's drive from Nottingham.

in the past, we parked at monsal head and walked down to monsal weir-headstone viaduct-upperdale-monsal head but this time, we parked at upper dale and walked to monsal weir-monsal head-viaduct and back to upper dale carpark.

Ashford in the Water is just 1.5 miles away from Monsal Head, a pretty village in the heart of white peak, home to Sheepwash Bridge, the most photographed  bridge in Britain, which has the glorious  River Wye flowing free underneath.
